Kane Sole (vocals/guitar/harmonica), Justin Lewis (lead guitar/12 string/slide guitar/banjo), Kent Walsdorf (Bass), and Harry Pettit (Drums/percussion) are Sons of May. Four lads with a tongue in cheek chemistry, a thirst for good times, and a mission to spread their love of high energy acoustic music.
Having spent the past two years honing their craft with gigs and festival appearances all around rural Victoria, the band are proud to announce the first single ‘Up Before Your Eyes’ off their self titled debut album, due for release in November 2014.
With influences ranging from John Butler – The Pogues – Mumford & Sons – Rage Against The Machine -Tom Petty -– Sublime. Sons of May’s pop-infused grit, catchy melodies, and infectious folk swagger offer an energetic urban take on the acoustic inspired genre.
Mixed & co-produced by Shane O’Mara (Tim Rodgers, The Audreys, Lisa Miller) and Mastered by Steve Smart (Vance Joy, Kasey Chambers, Crowded House), the debut release comes with a sigh of relief from the city living country-bred outfit.
In staying true to their roots, the band has crafted an album that best presents their live performance. Forgoing the usual studio shenanigans, the debut offering is a showcase of Sons of May in the flesh. Raw. Hard hitting. And Honest.
“Last night I was one of hundreds to experience the live version of Sons of May and they were irresistible. I won’t even try to pigeon hole their music because it’s unique … acoustic … raw and polished at the same time. It is also clear that these guys are humble and love what they do..”Airey's Inlet Festival
” Sons of May made their Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival debut in 2014 and blew punters’ minds wherever and whenever they performed their raucous yet smooth brand of modern blues. We couldn’t resist inviting them to play at the The Rifle Brigade Hotel for our first Showcase of the year and we’re grateful they agreed to come on board!”Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival
